As soon as you have a date, it’s worth booking in — good bridal stylists get busy, especially through peak wedding season. This is also the time to start growing out any length you’ll want for your chosen style, and to begin regular treatments if your hair needs a health boost. Healthy hair photographs beautifully and holds a style far better, so the earlier you start caring for it, the better.

3–4 months before: lock in colour direction
If you’re planning any colour change for the wedding — going lighter, adding balayage, covering greys — now is the time to start, not the week before. Colour often takes a couple of sessions to get exactly right, and starting early means there’s no pressure and plenty of time to perfect the tone. Plan your final colour appointment for about a week or two before the wedding so it’s fresh but settled, not brand-new.
6–8 weeks before: your bridal trial
The trial is the most important appointment on this timeline. You and your stylist will test your chosen style (or a couple of options) so there are no surprises on the day. Come with clean, dry hair, bring your inspiration photos, and if possible wear a top with a similar neckline to your dress and bring any hair accessories or veil you plan to use. Take photos from every angle at the end so you can both refer back to them.

2–3 weeks before: final cut and shape

The final few days
